When you come to Alaska, join Chugach Outdoor Center for raft trips and land tours exploring Alaska's spectacular wilderness areas. Chugach Outdoor Center can take you rafting on the Kenai Peninsula, at Denali National Park, Wrangell St. Elias National Park, and on the thrilling Talkeetna River. From mild to wild, they run some of the most beautiful rivers in the world.
The Talkeetna River, Sixmile Creek and the Nenana River are Chugach Outdoor Center's favorites. From challenging Class V Alaska whitewater rafting to scenic wilderness floats through national forests, they offer a range of trip options catering to all ages and ability levels.
The raft trips range in length from two hours to two weeks. Choose from peaceful floats, whitewater introductions or heart-stopping Class V descents. Exploring Alaska by raft utilizes a low impact means of travel through Alaska's vast wilderness and riparian areas. Rafting maximizes your opportunities to experience Alaska while ensuring that we leave a light footprint.
With magnificent scenery, abundant meals and the chance to view wildlife, a raft trip is more than whitewater. It's an opportunity for self-discovery. The chance to make new friendships and renew old ones. What you'll discover is that friendships made around our campfires will last you a lifetime.
Sixmile Creek Trip
Rising over 300 feet in places, towering canyon walls are draped in a lush carpet of old growth rain-forest with cascading waterfalls pouring in from the sides. Crystal clear water with healthy salmon runs make this a river runner's dream. Safely running Sixmile's narrowly constricted passageways takes a coordinated team effort with technical and precise paddling. Working closely with your guide, you'll be paddling while (s)he handles the oars. This oar paddling combination gives you power when you need it, as well as precise maneuvering capability.
For those who want the most excitement we offer paddle rafting, everyone paddles with the guide sitting in the back giving paddle commands. Sixmile has such an abundance of whitewater that one rapid will quickly fade from memory as you anxiously look down river preparing for the next. Precipitous drops, thundering hydraulics and powerful waves follow one after the other in quick succession. With each succeeding canyon, you'll encounter whitewater of increasing difficulty. With rapids known as "Staircase," "Suckhole," "Merry-Go-Round" and "Jaws," the third and most difficult canyon has six rapids rated at Class IV+ and Class V.
Chugach Outdoor Center offers two choices on Sixmile Creek. You can do the Class IV Two Canyon Run or the Class IV and V Three Canyon Run. All passengers must be physically capable of passing our paddler's practice swim.
Turnagain Pass Float Trip
Take a peaceful float trip through the narrow channels of Sixmile Creek's headwaters. Chugach Outdoor Center offers a float trip on the Granite and Bertha Creek Drainages for guests preferring a raft trip that does not have a lot of whitewater. Enjoy sweeping views of the Turnagain Pass area as you meander through the narrow channels of the Sixmile Creek headwaters. Bring a camera along to capture the picturesque beauty of the area while keeping your eyes peeled for wildlife along the banks. The trip is 3 hours long and is suitable for kids as young as 6 years old.

When the helicopter returns, you have the option of a customized flight seeing tour of your choosing. Soar through huge icebergs in a glacial lagoon, fly over one North America’s largest Icefields, and/or explore the stark mountainous topography carved from the last ice age surrounding Seward.
Helicopter Glacier Exploration
Difficulty: Moderate
Duration: 4 hoursThis trip offers the opportunity to be led into a place that few people have ever been. Exit Glacier Guides' Helicopter Exploration trip is an experience for those wanting to not only see and walk on a glacier, but to truly explore one as well. Given that glaciers are constantly changing, the options for navigation are truly limitless.
The helicopter leaves from Seward's local airport, and the views seen from the flight up to the ice are spectacular. After flying up through an alpine canyon, the helicopter lands relatively close to the glacier access – just a short hike to the ice!
Under Exit Glacier Guides' guidance, you will hike deep into the glacier’s crevasse fields on this tour where you can be up close and personal to the awesome power and beauty of this massive glacier. Up higher in the faster moving sections of the glacier that are still creating the landscape around us we can almost feel the ancient flow of glacier ice make its way down the valley.
After the hiking tour is done, the helicopter takes a thrilling canyon run down the mountain and over Resurrection Bay back to Seward.
This tour provides the hardy hiker with 3 hours of exploration- plenty of time to become intimately acquainted with another world.

About Kenai Fjords Tours
Towering walls of rock, lush forests, tumbling glaciers and abundant wildlife await on your journey up the coast from Seward on Kenai Fjords Tours six unique ocean cruises. Glide past seals, sea otters and sea lions playing and sunning on rocky shores. Watch puffins and eagles soar above. Wonder at the sight of whales frolicking at sea - all of these signature Alaskan sights are easily accessible on their wildlife and glacier cruises in Kenai Fjords National Park.
Kenai Fjords Tours operates the largest day cruise fleet in Southcentral Alaska, including three custom-built, 82.5-foot catamarans: the M/V Aialik Voyager, the M/V Orca Voyager and the newest vessel in the fleet christened in 2015 — the M/V Castillo Voyager.
Designed for wildlife and glacier viewing, a smooth ride, environmental friendliness and fuel efficiency, the catamarans use up to 40 percent less fuel than older vessels. The 9 ships in the fleet hold up to 150 passengers and feature multi-level, walk-around viewing decks, spacious heated cabins, large windows, comfortable indoor seating for all guests and a snack bar. All vessels are restroom-equipped and the newer vessels, as well as the recently, renovated Fox Island Day Lodge, were designed to accommodate guests with limited mobility. Kenai Fjords Tours has made a commitment to environmental sustainability, implementing a program to recycle used motor oil on all ships and by disposing of waste from the vessels at the dock instead of through a marine release whenever available at the Seward Harbor. The company also utilizes an alternative energy system on Fox Island, recycles at all its facilities and has switched to light timers and energy efficient bulbs at all locations. The Kenai Fjords Tours Fleet is Adventure Green Alaska certified. Adventure Green Alaska (AGA) is a voluntary certification program of the Alaska Travel Industry Association (ATIA) for sustainable tourism businesses operating in Alaska that meet standards of economic, environmental, and social sustainability.

- Stoney Creek Zipline
-
Stoney Creek Canopy Adventures sail above and through a gorgeous stand of Northern Pacific Temperate Rain Forest high above a glacial valley floor just six miles north of Seward, Alaska, near the tip of Resurrection Bay.
The first zip line traverse is a short 65 feet across the fall line, running fairly close to ground level and allowing riders a chance to become comfortable with the process. Still high along the valley wall, the third zip line travels 190 feet and lands 50 feet up the trunk of a huge Sitka spruce. The fifth traverse soars above the trees 1,100 feet back across the valley wall, sails over a reflecting pond, and comes to a stop at a platform 75 feet up another Sitka spruce.
From this point onward the tour path descends into the ever deeper and darker rain forest with its dense vegetation and sparkling creeks. A 600-foot zip line into an enormous mountain hemlock is followed by a shorter line at mid-level in the forest and a spot where bald eagles have often been sighted. From the landing platform each group member rappels 60 feet down to the platform entrance of an aerial walkway that begins just above the ground but ends 120 feet later at a point 60 feet up another Sitka spruce.
The route now takes a 90-degree turn and crosses a long bridge to a hemlock where zip line riding resumes. A 280-foot line travels toward the valley floor, ending in a spruce close to the entry road. The final traverse then crosses over the tour parking lot and past the Welcome Center yurt to land in a group of Sitka Spruce where a 40-foot rappel brings the group back to earth at last.
