Fort Wainwright, get ready for the biggest event of the season, the USAG Alaska Summer Concert on June 1! Enjoy the evening at Chena Bend Clubhouse & Golf Course with free, live entertainment featuring rap artist Waka Flocka and country music artist and reality television star Kellie Pickler, as well as food trucks, a beverage tent, lawn games, and so much more!

Don't forget to bring a chair or blanket to sit on! This year's concert is festival-style with lawn seating. A limited number of folding chairs will be available for sale at the venue on the day of the event. Keep reading to find out which items are prohibited at the event.

After Party with Comedian Ronnie Jordan

The party doesn't stop when the music stops! Don't miss out on the After Party at the Warrior Zone with Comedian Ronnie Jordan. A $5 cover charge gets you into the party from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Must be 18+ and a DoD ID Cardholder to enter.

 

Parking & Access Information

Concert Access
The public is invited to attend the Fort Wainwright Summer Concert with Kellie Pickler and Waka Flocka Flame. 

Special event access will only be through Badger Gate located on Badger Road. Installation access via Badger Gate will require positive photo identification and proof of vehicle insurance.

Visitors should be prepared for random vehicle inspections, as well as bag checks being implemented. A reminder that marijuana, though legal in the State of Alaska, is still illegal, in any form, on federal installations.

On-post shuttles are also available. Scroll down for more information about the free shuttle service to and from the venue.

Free Shuttles
A free shuttle service will be available for concert attendees. No need to make reservations-- shuttles will run beginning at 4:30 p.m. until all attendees vacate the concert venue. This is the recommended mode of transportation to access the concert.

  • Siku Basin (intersection of Lily Lane & Snapdragon Lane)

  • Education Center (building 4391)

Parking
Parking will be available in lots near to the Chena Bend Clubhouse & Golf Course, building 4090 Montgomery Road (at the intersection of Montgomery Road and Ketcham Road). Be prepared to follow traffic signs and controllers as they lead you to available parking spots.

Overnight Parking
We have you covered when it comes to overnight parking. If you decide to leave your vehicle parked overnight, please note that it will be towed to the Lower Chena Bend Parking Lot beginning at 11 p.m. (see map below).

Prohibited Items

Please do not bring the following items with you to the concert: Camelback-style hydration packs, outside food & beverages, cans or glass bottles, aerosol cans, alcohol, illegal drugs or substances, fireworks, professional grade cameras or video equipment, firearms, knives, weapons, or objects that could be used as weapons, pets (except service animals), selfie sticks, banners on flags or poles, laser pointers, skateboards or skates, wagons. Management has the right to refuse entry of all items deemed inappropriate.

All bags are subject to search.

FAQs

Do I need tickets for this event?

The USAG Summer Concert is a free event and does not require tickets to be obtained ahead of time.

What time do the shuttles run?

Shuttles will begin running at 4:30 p.m., and will continue running throughout the event. Reservations are not needed—the shuttles will be on a continuous loop.

How do I access the parking area?

Whether you are on or off post, access to parking is only available through Badger Gate. A limited amount of parking will be available in close proximity to the event. Parking will be available in lots near to the Chena Bend Clubhouse & Golf Course (at the intersection of Montgomery Road and Ketcham Road). Be prepared to follow traffic signs and controllers as they lead you to available parking spots. All other routes will be closed off beginning at 10 a.m. We strongly encourage you to park at one of the four shuttle locations and ride the free shuttle to and from the event.

Is this event open to the public?

The USAG Alaska Summer Concert at Fort Wainwright is open to the public. Special event access will be granted through the Badger Road Gate only. Must present a valid form of identification for entry.

Is this event family friendly?

We invite all ages to attend the event! Activities will be available for both kids and adults throughout the entire night, though we encourage families to attend the first half of the USAG Summer Concert, as Waka Flocka's musical content may not be suitable for children.

Can I bring my own food and drinks?

All food and drinks must be purchased at the event. Outside food and beverages, Camelback-style hydration packs, cans, glass bottles, and other items deemed inappropriate by management will not be allowed.

Can I bring my friend to the After Party at the Warrior Zone?

DoD ID Cardholders and their authorized guests who are 18+ are welcome to attend the After Party at the Warrior Zone. Doors open at 9 p.m., and comedian Ronnie Jordan will be busting guts at 10 p.m.

I heard that there will be security checks. Is this true?

Yes. Security checks will be in place to ensure that everyone is kept safe. Please be advised that bag checks will be conducted, and certain items are not allowed on the shuttle buses or at the main event. Some of the main items not allowed are illegal drugs or substances, alcohol, outside food or drinks, cans or glass bottles, firearms or weapons professional video and audio equipment, or pets (except service animals).
