Please note that you must show a valid form of identification when purchasing a pass or rental equipment. Prices of passes and rentals will reflect DoD/non DoD cardholder status. DoD cardholders may not purchase passes or rentals for non DoD cardholders at the DoD cardholder price.
Snow tubing is a great thrill no matter your age. No experience or skill is necessary to enjoy the 800 foot run. Simply hop on your tube, push off and enjoy the ride. A lift makes the ride back to the top of the hill easy. Youth must be 5 years of age and at least 40 inches tall to participate.
Price is for one (1) 3-hour session.
Training Holiday Friday sessions are 4 hours long.

Whether you’re a beginner to skiing or snowboarding, or you are just looking to beef up your skills, Birch Hill offers lessons geared to your needs. Lessons are offered by knowledgeable and very patient staff.
Reservations are required, as demand is high. Give the lodge a call at +1 (907)353-6449 to secure your reservation.
Ski or Snowboard Lesson Prices:
DoD Adult / Youth: $50
Non-DoD Adult / Youth: $60
A 1/2 day lift ticket is included in the price of your lesson.
Ski or Snowboard Lesson Times:
Option 1: 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Option 2: 12:30 - 2:30 p.m.
The first 30 minutes of the lesson will be spent gearing up in the Rental Area of the lodge. Please arrive on time so that you receive the full amount of time per lesson. The last 90 minutes of the lesson will be spent on the hill.

No need to worry if you don't have your own skis or snowboard-- our knowledgeable staff will fit your equipment to your expertise level and riding style so that you can have the best possible experience.
Please note that equipment rentals do not include a lift ticket.
Minors must have parent or legal guardian present when renting gear and equipment.

Having a wedding, unit gathering or other group function? Birch Hill Ski Lodge can be rented during non-operational hours. With a fireplace, beautiful view and plenty of seating, the lodge has everything you need to hold a successful event.

Birch Hill Ski & Snowboard Area is located within Fort Wainwright boundaries, and requires military installation access. Visit the US Army Garrison Alaska website to learn how to obtain access to Fort Wainwright and the Birch Hill Ski & Snowboard Area.
Keep the whole family busy and physically active during the long Alaskan winter. Birch Hill Ski and Snowboard Area offers skiing, snowboarding and tubing for all ages and abilities. With snow-making capabilities, Birch Hill is the first hill in the interior to open and boasts the only night-skiing venue in the Fairbanks area. Early bird passes are available for purchase at the beginning of each season.
In addition to the skiing and snowboarding runs a first rate Terrain Park has been constructed with mounds, rails and boxes to do tricks on. Alaskans identify Birch Hill as the best terrain park in the state.
Youth Ski Days
Holiday and Spring Break Packages are available to keep your children busy. Each package includes three 90-minute lessons, lift tickets, Certificate of Completion awarded.
End of the Season Celebration!
Each year before Birch Hill closes its doors a blowout celebration is held to celebrate the coming of spring. March Madness offers three days of free, fun-filled family activities. Tubing races, ski and snowboard surfing, coloring contests and snowmachine rides are just a small sampling of the craziness that makes up March Madness.
